Online Dating

Online dating simply means two people meeting and having a social romantic interaction online. This is fast becoming a very big industry and will continue to grow bigger because technology has made it easy for people looking for friendship and relationship to find it using the Internet. The reason why match.com is acquiring/partnering with some good and big dating services is because of the success rate and increase in the number of people using the Internet to establish good relationships.

There are different ways people can meet and date online, e.g dating websites, dating services, social networks, etc. These services provide a forum or avenue for people to meet and get to know each other, in other words you could call them introductory services or online match makers. They facilitate the process of dating by making available features and tools that help sustain meaningful communication among users and they promote genuine connections.

A lot of people still do not agree that strong relationships could be built online but I disagree because online interaction can be as powerful and strong as relationships formed on a face to face introduction. Dating online creates a foundation for building trust and establishing friendship which generally leads to a real offline or real life relationship. People are more likely to talk from the heart and express themselves more freely during online interaction; less confident or shy people feel more confident when interacting online. That is not to say that this is the case with everyone but most people feel more confident to talk about stuff online thereby making it easier to figure out what they are about. I would say the Internet helps to foster a longer lasting romantic or platonic relationship because taking time to get to know each other online thereby postponing physical intimacy helps promote relationship longevity. Many people are finding true long lasting love and even life partners using online dating.

Traditionally or offline, weddings and parties are considered good places for meeting dates but they are not like everyday happenings and you may have very few or no invites for a year or even more but there are many dating websites and online dating services on the Internet and you can register at any time to one or more if you want to widen your chances. A good perception of others is very important when it comes to online interaction as some people can easily assume false identities like old people pretending to be very young, married people claiming to be singles or people that are not parents claiming to be parents, etc. This could happen offline as well but I must say it is more rampant online so perception is a key factor if you are looking to use the Internet to find love. Always remember that it is entirely up to you if the interaction online should be made an offline relationship, you are at an advantage where you can decide to stop or take it further. I would say not to rush meeting up but to take your time and get to know your date more so you could save yourself the stress of getting in touch with so many wrong dates before you meet the right one. Dating websites have simplified everything by grouping or categorising users so it is easier to find dates either by age, religion, ethnicity, gender, nationality, locality, etc.

There is genuine concern that apart from people using fantasy/pretentious identities, there are some people out there with other motives other than dating preying on victims. Just like offline dating, you just have to be perceptive and let your instincts guide you, do not be carried away, be careful and cautious. On the up side you increase your chances of finding that one person meant for you by joining any of the dating services on the Internet. There is someone out there for everyone and no one needs to be alone except out of pure choice.

Not all who seek love will find a soul mate but hopefully most will not be disappointed using online dating.
